Eighteen years ago, a group of history-loving 8th graders asked their history teacher (me!) to take them on a summer trip to explore Civil War battlefields.  Each year since, I have explored new destinations, experimenting with the itineraries in order to offer the best combination of history enrichment and outdoor recreational enjoyment to the students who come along.  The trip(s) featured on this summer's menu are a culmination of the past eighteen years.
